The delegation of the Australian Embassy paid a working visit to Lang Son province

 

From 5 to 6 April, 2019, the delegation of the Australian Embassy led by Ambassador Craig Chittick paid a working visit to Lang Son province. Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the representative leaders of departments (comdelegations??) and sectors: Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, Education and Training, Planning and Investment, Dong Dang - Lang Son  Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board  recieved and worked with the delegation.

 

During their working time in Lang Son, the delegation surveyed Tan Thanh Border Gate, Huu Nghi International Border Gate, visiting the Nhi - Tam Thanh scenic sight, Chi Lang custard apple garden and Chi Lang pass.

 

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed Mr. Ambassador and the delegation about the situation of Lang Son’s socio-economic development; potentials and strengths; administrative reforms; improved provincial governance capacity; social infrastructure development, focusing on transportation infrastructure and border gate economy; human resources quality improvement. Mr. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Lang Son was active in international integration, international cooperation, promoting trade and investment cooperation with foreign partners, including Australian partners, then requested Mr. Ambassador and Embassy of Australia in Vietnam to continue to support for cooperation promotion between Lang Son and Australian localities (especially between Lang Son city and Goulburn city - two cities signed the 2018 Friendship City Cooperation Framework), businesses in areas such as trade and investment, human resource training, people-to-people exchanges; connection and introduction of businesses coming to survey and find the investment opportunity in Lang Son, especially the investment in Dong Dang - Lang Son  Border Gate Economic Zone; investment in high-tech agricultural development; supplying ODA and NGO resources for areas with difficult economic conditions in the province.

 

Australian Ambassador Craig Chittick expressed his pleasure, thanked the provincial leaders for the respectful and thoughtful reception, congratulated Lang Son's success in the socio-economic development, especially leading the country on PAPI (Public Administration Performance Index). With the information about Lang Son province received from the courtesy call and the results of the survey at Tan Thanh Border Gate, Huu Nghi International Border Gate and some provincial scenic spot, Mr. Ambassador pledged to introduce and promote Lang Son province to Australian organizations, businesses, investors and people, contributing to cooperation promotion between the two countries in general and Lang Son and Australian in particular.

 

In the framework of the working visit to Lang Son province, the Australian Embassy delegation had a working session with Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, discussing about the situation of Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone’s operation, especially on preferential policies and mechanisms to attract investment, priority projects for investment promotion and enterprises currently doing business in the Border Gate Economic Zone, competitive advantages of Lang Son province compared to other border provinces in attracting foreign investors, including Australian investors in the border gate economic zone. The Ambassador expressed his interest and impression to status of the province's border gate development and committed to introduce and connect potential Australian investors to survey and seek investment opportunities at the Border Gate Economic Zone of Lang Son province.

 

The working visit in Lang Son province of the Australian Embassy delegation took place successfully, contributing to promoting cooperation between Lang Son and Australian partners in the areas of trade and investment, human resource training, people exchange, humanitarian aid, connecting and supporting businesses on both sides.
