Conference to review 15 years of implementing 03 legal documents on Vietnam - China land border in Lang Son province

On July 30, 2024, the People's Committee of Lang Son province held a conference to summarize 15 years of implementing 03 legal documents on the Vietnam - China land border. Attending the conference, on behalf of the Military Region 1 Command and the Border Guard Command, there were Major General Hoang Van Huu, Deputy Commander of Military Region 1, Colonel Duong The Vo, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Border Guard Command; Representatives of the Department of Foreign Security, Ministry of Public Security; Border and Geographic Center, Department of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Department of National Defense - Security, Ministry of Finance. Attending and directing the Conference on the provincial side were Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Border Work Steering Committee; Mrs.Giap Thi Bac, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee Organization Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

Leaders of departments, sectors and commissions that are members of the Provincial Border Steering Committee; Standing Committees of District Party Committees and City Party Committees of districts and cities in the province, Border Steering Committees of 05 border districts, Border Guard Stations and border communes and towns attended and contributed many important discussions at the Conference.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Border Steering Committee affirmed: After 15 years of implementing border management according to 03 legal documents on the Vietnam - China land border, the border situation in Lang Son province is basically stable, the appearance of the border area and border gates has changed; border gate infrastructure has been invested in upgrading and expanding; trade, import-export and tourism activities are vibrant and growing strongly; border management coordination between the two sides has become routine, national territorial sovereignty is firmly maintained and stable, contributing to creating a favorable and stable environment for development, consolidating and deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality and the country.

At the Conference, delegates listened to presentations from representatives of sectors and People's Committees of border districts and communes on the situation and results of the implementation of three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border after 15 years of completing demarcation and marker planting in the province; shared experiences and good practices, pointed out difficulties and obstacles, and made recommendations and solutions to better implement border management and the implementation of three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border in the next period.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation acknowledged and highly appreciated the important results that Lang Son province has achieved after 15 years of completing border demarcation and implementing 03 legal documents on the Vietnam - China land border. He requested that Party committees at all levels, authorities, unions, departments, sectors, especially border districts, communes, towns, and functional forces promote the achieved results, continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement resolutions and directives of the Party and State on border work; develop the socio-economy of border areas in conjunction with strengthening and consolidating national defense - security and foreign affairs; Continue to advise on the effective management and protection of borders and border markers; promote information, propaganda and education on border sovereignty for all classes of people, students, and pupils, creating unity in awareness, solidarity, cooperation, and joining hands to firmly manage and protect national border sovereignty in the new situation.

At the Conference, 07 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in border construction, management and protection in the province in the period of 2019 - 2024 received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee./.
